Requirements for the implementation of democracy #2

An informed and comprehending citizenry is essential to effective democratic government. The closer the individual is to the essential elements of his/her survival and well-being, and the simpler the core processes and products are, the more likely it will be that he or she will: (1) be interested and motivated to learn the basic facts about these essential elements, and therefore (2) know the basic facts about these elements; (3) be interested and motivated to learn how core processes work, and therefore (4) comprehend the workings of these core processes; (5) be capable of adequately assessing the performance of the people executing or managing these core processes; (6) be in a position to determine what other people know and when other people are telling the truth.
